Good Afternoon,

Today marked the final day of on-campus instruction for seniors beginning their Capstone experience. While most of these students will now be working offsite, please remember that those enrolled in AP courses are still required to attend those classes in person until their scheduled exams are complete.

I thoroughly enjoyed speaking with many seniors this week about their upcoming Capstones and I look forward to seeing their final presentations and celebrating their accomplishments over the next two months.

During our senior Capstone meeting yesterday, we revisited our expectations for student conduct as we approach the end of the year. I ask that parents and caregivers have a candid conversation with their students regarding the importance of making responsible decisions throughout the remainder of the term. It is vital to remember that poor choices or behavioral issues can result in the loss of senior activities, including the prom, the senior class trip, and participation in graduation ceremonies. Our goal is to ensure every student remains safe and is able to celebrate these hard-earned milestones with their peers. Thank you for your continued partnership and support.

Lots of other senior news below.

Have a great weekend.

Sincerely,

Principal Twomey

From our Resource Officer

Dear Students, I want to take a moment to remind everyone about the importance of safety, especially as we approach prom and other end-of-year events.

It has come to our attention that some students are playing the game “Assassin” during this time. While this game may seem harmless and fun, it can lead to misunderstandings and unintended consequences—especially when played in public spaces or around vehicles. It can also create unnecessary safety concerns for both students and members of the community.

For these reasons, we are asking all students to refrain from participating in this game. WA administration and the Westford Police do not condone this game and it will not be allowed on school property (including after school activities on campus). Recently, Westford Police had to deal with several incidents with students playing this game. Our goal is to ensure that everyone can enjoy these important milestones in a safe and respectful environment.

Thank you for your cooperation, and please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or concerns.

Friday Email March 27, 2026

Good Afternoon,

March usually feels like a long month, but this year it flew by! We are now heading into our busiest season at Westford Academy.

A shout-out to our sophomores for completing the ELA MCAS this past week. The students arrived prepared and focused. I would also like to thank our MCAS Administrator, Dean Ware, and his team for their seamless behind-the-scenes planning and technical execution.

Westford Academy thrives on a "beyond the bell" culture. Whether through athletics, WATA, or various clubs, our students consistently find ways to supplement their classroom experience. We recently found that 93% of our students participate in at least one co-curricular activity. This incredible statistic highlights the deep sense of connection and lifelong learning within our student body.

Important Updates:

  • School Committee Survey: Your input matters! Please take two minutes to complete the survey linked below.
  • Graduation: Scheduled for June 5th at 5:30 PM (Rain dates: June 6th and 7th).
  • WA Last Night: Volunteers are needed for this annual tradition. Please consider signing up via the link below.

Enjoy the weekend! (And to my fellow college basketball fans: I hope your brackets haven't busted quite as badly as mine has!)

Sincerely,

Dan Twomey

Principal

WA Last Night, June 5, 2026

This year, the Westford Academy Class of 2026 will graduate on June 5, 2026.  While high school may feel like a lifetime away for your child, you may have a neighbor, babysitter, or coach who is part of the Class of 2026.  Help give the seniors an amazing send off at Last Night, a substance free event held at Westford Academy where students play games, win prizes and enjoy entertainment together.  It takes over 300 volunteers and generous donations from the community to pull off this annual event for the graduating seniors.  By volunteering your time, or donating a raffle item, or monetary donation, you are helping to keep this tradition alive. We want this event to continue on for all of our kids for years to come but can't make it happen without your help.  For more details on this incredible event, visit walastnight.org

Thursday Email March 19, 2026

Good Afternoon,

Today, we welcomed long-time Boston Marathon Race Director and motivational speaker Dave McGillivray to the PAC. He delivered his "Defining Moments" talk to our seniors and sophomores. It was a special full-circle moment for students who remembered Dave from his visit to the Abbot School eight years ago. Some even brought in their copies of Dream Big, the children’s book Dave co-authored with resident and writer Nancy Feehrer following that original visit, to have them signed.

Next week sophomores will take the ELA MCAS on Tuesday and Wednesday. Although passing is no longer a graduation requirement students are encouraged to give their best effort. The data is used for school assessments and determines eligibility for various state scholarships. Students must arrive on time with a fully charged WPS Chromebook. Below is the full message sent to the sophomore class today from Mr. Ware.

No school tomorrow in observance of Eid-al-Fitr. Have a great weekend.

Sincerely,

Dan Twomey

Principal

Friday Email March 13, 2026

Good Afternoon,

We have officially reached the midpoint of the third quarter! It has been an incredible week filled with community spirit, and I want to share a few highlights and reminders with you all.

Thank you to the students, volunteers, and families who made our recent events such success stories:

  • Shoutout to everyone involved in the Polar Plunge, the NHS Empty Bowls event, and the Hands to Haiti basketball game (where the staff managed to defend their title once again!).
  • Student Competitions: Good luck to our DECA students competing today at States, and to our WATA students at the METG Semifinals tomorrow. We are rooting for you!

If you’ve walked through the cafeteria lately, you’ve likely seen the countdown chalkboard. It is a startling reminder of how quickly Capstone and Graduation are approaching!

While this is an exciting time, it’s also a critical moment for seniors to stay focused. We want every student to participate in the fun and memorable traditions ahead; please remember that finishing strong means maintaining good decision-making, as poor choices can have consequences that impact these final milestone events. Let’s keep that finish line in sight!

Important Dates for Next Week

  • Monday, March 16: Spring Sports begin.
  • Friday, March 20: No School (In observance of Eid-al-Fitr).

Have a wonderful weekend!

Sincerely,

Dan Twomey

Principal
