The MIAA voted to align its requirements on physicals with the Mass Department of Public Health.

All student athletes are required to have an up-to-date physical on file with the school nurse to actively participate on any athletic team. 

Physicals are valid for 13 months.

Activity fees are collected AFTER teams are selected. This can be done online through MySchoolBucks or by check (payable to WA Athletics). 

Payment is due at the time teams are selected and can be given to the coach or dropped off in the main office.

All photographs will be available for parents to view and purchase online. Additionally, sports and school events may be added throughout the school year. We encourage athletes to check for updates periodically.

The purpose of this survey is to provide an opportunity for Westford Academy student athletes and parents to offer feedback to the athletic department on the student's participation experience.

Your responses will be summarized and shared with each coach. Please complete the survey once all the team activities, including end of season awards/banquets, have completed.

Athletics survey

Any student athlete interested in participating in a sport must have the following items completed before participation or a tryout is granted for each season.

• Be in good standing with Westford Academy in regards to all attendance or discipline policies.
• Be academically eligible. (See Westford Academy Handbook or WA Athletics Handbook for complete rule.)
• Have a current physical on file.
• Register online using the following link: Online Registration.
• Complete the MA Department of Health Regulation free online concussion course. (Completed Yearly) The free online course can be found here: Concussion in Sports

College Recruiting

Many parents and students are uncertain of the process of college recruiting. There are many questions to be asked and many answers to be discovered to help student-athletes make the right choice. Positive Sport Parenting Course

Implicit Bias 

In order to gain a better understanding of actions, language and behavior which can be interpreted as discriminatory in nature and to confirm their commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, it is recommended that all student athletes, coaches and athletic directors take the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) free online course entitled Implicit Bias and take the MIAA Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Pledge. It is recommended that School administrators (coaches and athletic directors) take the course and pledge every school year, prior to the start of the academic year. It is recommended that Student-athletes take the course and pledge every year as well, and they should do so prior to the start of their athletic season.

We would like to take a moment to remind all parents, spectators & fans about appropriate conduct during interscholastic competitions.

It is very important for the culture of educational athletics that spectators demonstrate good sportsmanship at all times. Please cheer for and encourage the Westford Academy teams & refrain from any negative comments/cheers toward the officials, players, or opposing spectators.

2026 Substance Abuse (Opioid) Emergency Law

Health and safety of our students at Westford Academy and in the Town of Westford is a top priority. At this point in time, use of drugs and alcohol as well other substances is an epidemic which needs our attention as educators, coaches, parents, and peers.

It is of great importance to work together in sharing information and knowledge of the dangers of drugs, alcohol, opioids and other substances. Below is a link to the Massachusetts Public Health Resource page for parents which has information and links to information to help us communicate, address and deal with this epidemic. There is also a second link for information pertaining specifically to perscription and over the counter drugs. Additionally, concerns parents may have regarding drug,alcohol, opioid or substance abuse can be communicated to a school official to help in identifying resources and personnel who can assist in the ensuring the safety and health of a student.
