PARENTAL OVERRIDE POLICY
When a student fails to meet the prerequisites for taking a sequential course, the student is obligated to take an alternative course. In some extenuating circumstances, parents may formally request an override of the school’s recommendation or eligibility requirement for a course. In this instance, the student is allowed to take the preferred course with the understanding that the student will remain in said course for the entire school year.
After having a discussion with the recommending teacher, please click here to access theSCIENCE OVERRIDE FORM. You will not be able to fulfill the override request if that discussion hasn't occurred.
The Science and Engineering/Technology program at Westford Academy presents a broad program designed to develop an awareness and appreciation of the extent of science and its influence on the Earth, and human’s well being. All courses are laboratory classes and the sequence of courses offered will carry the student through the various phases of science techniques and content. As the student develops a logical approach to problem solving, the aim of the science program is to have each student become a scientifically educated citizen and a life long learner. The program is aligned with the Massachusetts Science Frameworks and satisfies the requirements for post high school training in various science
fields whether it be medical, engineering, or liberal arts.
