Class Lesson You will take on the role of teacher for 15 minutes. You will sign up for a topic (one that would be covered in class anyway) and then teach that information to your classmates. Your lesson will consist of two parts. I. A period of instruction in which you teach the material to the class. This must include a PowerPoint slide show that complements your presentation. This part of your lesson should be ~10 minutes. Please read these guidelines /suggestions for the PowerPoint. II. An activity in which the students have an opportunity to review the most important information and demonstrate what they’ve learned. It should be original and creative, but most importantly, it must be useful and must require more than mere recall of facts; it must ask the students to engage in some higher level thinking about your topic. This part of your lesson should be ~5 minutes A few weeks before your lesson is scheduled, see me and I will give you some guidelines regarding what information about your topic your lesson must include (that info is linked below as well-click on the title of each topic). Then, arrange to meet with me several days before the lesson is scheduled. You should have all of the required information, a fully prepared PowerPoint for me to look at, a properly formatted Works Cited/Consulted page, and some ideas for the activity. I will look over the content and appearance of your PowerPoint, discuss your ideas for the activity, and help you finalize the plans for the activity. There are only a limited number of class lessons available. There will be a sign-up sheet for this in the classroom; it’s first come, first served.
