Teaching Gender Inclusion And Acceptance- presentation tonight.
Teaching Gender Inclusion And Acceptance
One of the most fundamental aspects of a person’s identity, gender deeply influences every part of a person’s life. Gender diversity has existed throughout history and all over the world. However, in societies where this crucial aspect of self has been narrowly defined and rigidly enforced, individuals who exist outside of society’s norms face innumerable challenges. Even those who vary only slightly from the norm can become targets of disapproval and scorn. This does not have to be the case.
Join the Westford Parent Connection on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 as they host Sue Hanly, RN, and Charity MacDonald, RN, who will present Creating And Supporting The Gender-Inclusive Classroom. Sue and Charity, Stony Brook and Blanchard school nurses, respectively, have undergone extensive training through an organization called Gender Spectrum. What they have learned is appropriate and applicable to teachers and parents alike, and can bring about greater understanding and acceptance.
The presentation is free and open to the public and is being held at 7:00 p.m. at the Stony Brook Middle School, 9 Farmer Way, Westford. For more details about the information contained in this presentation, check out Gender Spectrum’s website at For other questions, go to or contact Mary Anne Seraphin at
