Subject: Point of clarification on Academic Achievement Awards
One recommendation of Westford Academy's School Improvement Council this year was to be more explicit in invitations to parents for the end of the year awards ceremonies regarding the level of awards students would be receiving. In the newly created letters, the criteria for the Academic Achievement Award was listed as a student having an average of 90 or above at the end of term 3.
As a point of clarification, the criteria has historically been that students earning honor roll or high honor roll for all three terms are eligible for the award. That is the criteria that was used to generate the letters for this year's award as well. If you received a letter of invitation that cited that your son or daughter would be receiving the Academic Achievement Award, they have met the criteria of earning honor roll each of the past three terms and we are proud to honor them at this year's ceremony.
Thank you for your understanding as we make this transition.
