The Consultative Model
The Consultative Model

In the consultative model the ITS and teacher work together to plan, co-teach, and assess the integration of technology into the Westford curriculum. The pattern of this work follows four steps:

1. Begin
-Identify the unit of instruction to be planned
-Teacher and ITS meet to determine the subject and information

2. Prepare
-ITS identifies schedules and prepares necessary digital content  (software and Internet locations) and equipment
-Teacher and ITS gather ideas for student centered activities, skills, and effective use of technology
-Teacher and ITS meet again to finalize content, materials, ideas, and responsibilities

3. Teach/Coach
-Teacher and ITS jointly introduce unit
-Teacher and ITS carry out activities: may take place in the  lassroom, the computer lab, or in both

4. Evaluate
-Teacher and ITS evaluate the unit: objectives, content,    materials,  activities
-Student input is included in the evaluation
-Student output is assessed: project, presentation, report, test, etc
-Recommendations for future planning, materials, etc
